Shipping Specialist

Department: Internal Logistics
Location: Ottumwa, IA

S2 Manufacturing designs, manufactures, and supplies worldwide a complete line of mobile and stationary ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metal and scrap vehicle crushers and balers. S2 also manufactures the Vammas line of large high speed / high-capacity snow removal machines used at major airports. We currently have an opening for a Shipping Specialist. This position is on-site at our Ottumwa, IA facility.

Job Title: Shipping Specialist

Department: Internal Logistics

Reports to: Internal Logistics Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

SUMMARY

Responsible for collecting and preparing goods for accurate and timely outbound shipment to dealers and customers. Utilizes ERP software and coordinates outbound shipments with parcel and freight vendors.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages the shipment and receipt of all products, materials, and supplies.
  • Reviews sales orders, work orders, shipping orders, or requisitions to determine items to be moved, gathered, shipped, or distributed.
  • Prints and reads picklists to identify due dates, item locations, shipping methods, and special instructions.
  • Stages outbound shipments and documents weight and dimensions of packaged goods.
  • Marks inbound and outbound materials and items with identifying information.
  • Follows packaging guidelines including package weight limits and labeling of all parts to ensure safe and timely delivery of packages and pallets.
  • Promptly load/unload trucks when needed.
  • Communicates and collaborates effectively with the Parts sales team.
  • Performs general housekeeping duties to maintain a safe and organized work area.
  • Works in a safe manner at all times, following all safety guidelines.

Qualifications

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or General Education degree (GED).

1-year related experience in a manufacturing environment and/or additional related education preferred.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS

S2 Manufacturing Forklift Operators Certificate (After hire)

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and shipping guidelines and regulations. Ability to write handwritten notes on internal documents and shipping papers. Ability to speak effectively one-on-one and in groups.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

COMPUTER SKILLS

Ability to perform simple tasks, such as setting tabs, opening and closing files, and simple formulas. Prior experience with a computer required. Excel, Outlook, Intuitive ERP experience preferred.
